The motor and discharge brackets made of thermoplastic or stainless steel are durable and non-corrosive. Minerals, metals, and other chemicals often present in water cannot harm either material.
The water level surrounding the pump need to remain higher than the valve on top of it. This implies that the valve should be above the lowest position of the float switch that controls the pump. If there is not enough water above the pump's inlet, the pump's lifespan may be limited.
